Hotchkiss winners praised

High achievers on leading ductwork contractor Hotchkiss’s award-winning apprenticeship scheme were congratulated by John Williams of Land Securities in a prize-giving ceremony.

Established in 1980 in memory of Hotchkiss sheetmetal working apprentice Vernon Parry, who died while on holiday in France in 1979, the awards credit performance, college attendance and grades obtained during 2008.

Overall winner and winner of the site category was Jody Moore, who was presented with the Vernon Parry cup and a commemorative glass trophy to retain, plus a cheque for £100.

NVQ Assessor Bob Wright said: “Jody has a pro-active and positive attitude. He joined Hotchkiss from school and proved he was eager to learn. He has all the qualities we look for in our apprentices. “

Office category winner Nick Duvall was praised for “showing great aptitude in his position as a surveyor”. He was presented a cheque for £50. Factory category winner Craig Ticehurst was also awarded a cheque for £50, for “proving to be a conscientious and willing addition to the factory team”.

John Williams, Head of Supply Chain with Land Securities – the UK’s largest Real Estate Investment Trust – presented the awards, which were introduced by Hotchkiss Group Chairman Michael Ohly.
